Be a free range human

marianne and me

This week I opened up the sound waves for a jam session with Free Range Human, Marianne Cantwell as she gets ready to launch her long-awaited book ‘Free Range Humans – escape the 9 to 5, do what you love and still pay the bills’.

Listen in as we wax lyrical on what life is like as a free range human (we’re not just beach bums, although beaches do quite often figure in our lives), how a whole new way of working is emerging thanks to technology that we couldn’t have even dreamed of when we were at school – one that gives us enormous opportunity for freedom, creativity and making a difference in the world, one where we no longer have to work from an office and one where we can start up a business and get it out to the world for no money at all. Something juicy on its way…

working on my latest project

Well it is raining here in Canada and I am loving it. I have so much to write about my experiences here since I arrived just three weeks ago. Wow, three weeks – is that all it’s been? In fact I feel I want to write about the ten years it’s taken me to get here. Or better still, the thirty three years it’s taken me. Maybe one day I will – a true labour of love.

But for now I have a current and very real labour of love that I have been keeping secretly under wraps, but that is almost ready to be launched out into the world… Continue reading

Juicy Tuesday: Go to where the love is…

IMG_0292

The topic today is all about how we navigate our way through life. How do we choose where to go?

How do you choose which direction to take? How did I wind up in the US for 5 weeks? How have you wound up where you are? Do you have a guiding rule that you use to navigate your way through life?

Because I didn’t, or at least I thought I didn’t, until I suddenly found myself with the world as my oyster.

And was suddenly totally and utterly lost… Continue reading

Top 5 regrets of the dying…what would be yours?

Wow.

This study by a nurse of the 5 regrets of the dying is powerful stuff. Let it sink in. One day this will be you, me, maybe soon.

Does that scare you? Well, it should. Not because death itself is scary, not because life ending should be feared but because you need to remember. THIS WILL ALL END ONE DAY FOR YOU.

And when it does… Continue reading

What happens when you don’t stop dreaming

Sixteen years ago my father had a dream.
To buy a boat, quit his job and sail the world. At the time he had a wife and two teenaged kids to support, a mortgage and a job in a bank which had him working 100 hours a week.

It was a mad dream, but it was his dream. He knew he had to do it… Continue reading
